Diesel drag racing will continue at Byron Dragway in 2021 with two popular events – the spring event will be Sunday, June 6th and the fall event on Saturday, October 30th.
In a heartfelt tribute in memory of Jarrett Powell, Superior Automotive of Belvidere, Illinois has been named the presenting sponsor of both events. Powell, a frequent diesel drag racer at Byron Dragway, is the late son of Superior Automotive owner Marty Powell. Moved by the diesel truck community’s outpouring of support, Superior Automotive has pledged its support of the diesel drag racing events at Byron Dragway to pay tribute and remember Jarrett Powell. His father Marty will display Jarrett’s award winning 2006 LBZ GMC Duramax truck. Best Appearing and Top 3 Duramax E.T.’s honors will be presented an award bearing Powell’s name.
From mild-to-wild, Diesel Drags presented by Superior Automotive is the all-inclusive diesel event. From bone stock, daily driven diesel trucks to heavily modified, purpose built diesel drag trucks, and everything in between, this event is for everyone of all levels of experience. Awards are presented to the top three drivers for each manufacturer: Cummins, Duramax, and PowerStroke. Additional awards include best appearing, most unique, quickest manual transmission, best blackout, and a bracket race.
Gates open at 9:00 AM with racing starting at 10:00 AM. It is only $15 to watch, $50 to race, and kids 12 & younger get in FREE.
